Donate in Memory of a Beloved Pet or Person

A meaningful way to remember a loved one and to help our rescued animals is through a gift to Wags to Riches Animal Rescue.  Gifts may be given in memory of a loved one or beloved pet, as gifts on special occasions such as birthdays, new adoptions or holidays, or to honor people or organizations.  Email your submission here.

Remember Wags to Riches Animal Rescue in Your Will

People are choosing to name Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary Inc. as beneficiaries of their estates.  This is a generous way to continue your commitment to the welfare of animals.

We appreciate gifts or bequests in any amount.  If you would like to do this, you should make sure to clearly include Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in your will when you discuss it with your attorney.  You can even designate a bequest for a specific item.

The Merlin Scholarship Fund

Wags to Riches has formed The Merlin Scholarship Fund in honor of Prince Merlin the beloved 7 year old German Shepherd of Dean and Sue Vandiver.  Merlin suffered a knee injury when he was just two years old that lead to Arthritis settling in his joints.

This began the journey to find joint relief as Rimadyl, the usual prescribed medication didn't agree with Merlin.  After trying several medications, Cytle-m provided relief for about six months but, then ceased to be effective.  Anal fistulas began to form and thru the diagnosis of Dr. Brown, A-Topica provided relief as did Metacam for the arthritis for about six months.  They also tried Homeopathy and Acupuncture for Merlin  but that didn't help much.

In the Fall of 2008 a WSU Intern, in consultation with professors at WSU School of Veterinarian Medicine, concluded that Merlin just needed to be kept comfortable and that nothing more could be done.  

Many dedicated pet owners look to their Vets and to WSU to help give relief and help to their sick animal companions.  With this scholarship fund we hope that we will be helping the development of the next generation of high quality Veterinarians and Vet-Technicians. 

Two scholarships will be awarded in the spring of 2010, one to a student attending WSU for $2000 and one to a student attending YVCC's Vet-tech program for $500.
